Alfred Barye

1839-1882

Son of French sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye, Alfred Barye was trained by his father to sand cast bronze sculptures. The two had an off-and-on, tempestuous relationship all their lives. The earliest Alfred Barye artwork, done in his childhood years, depicted wild animals that lived near his home. Alfred Barye’s art for sale includes meticulously patina-coated, bronze animals that show the same skill and eye for detail expressed in his father’s sculpting.

Alfred Barye’s sculptures were known for their detail and sense of movement, especially those of horses that showcased their muscular structure. Alfred Barye’s sculptures were exhibited regularly at the Salon Paris from 1864-66, and then again in 1882. You can purchase sensational animal sculptures online that are sure to satisfy the wildlife lover in you.
