Jef Lambeaux

1852-1908

Born in 1852, Belgian artist Jef Lambeaux was formally trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Many Jef Lambeaux sculptures feature classical or mythological scenes, but with traditional nude bodies contorted into humorous or openly erotic positions. Not surprisingly, his work caused great controversy during the 19th century. Despite the scandals that followed his sensual sculptures, Jef Lambeaux artwork was still highly sought after during his lifetime, with commissions for pieces to be displayed in public parks and pavilions in places like Brussels.

The artist became prominent for his Neo-Baroque style, and Jef Lambeaux sculptures were lauded for their unique bronze and marble work. Thanks to famous works like The Kiss and Human Passions, Jef Lambeaux’s art for sale is still in high demand today.
