Rembrandt

1606-1669

Dutch artist Rembrandt Harmensz, whose full birth name was Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, is considered one of the most revered artists in all of history. Rembrandt paintings for sale are very rare, but do come up at private and public auctions on occasion. Pieter Lastman, a mentor of Rembrandt’s, helped him master his techniques to do the historical and religious paintings he became famous for.

Artist Rembrandt Harmensz used his skills in etching and painting to create multiple self-portraits and biblical scenes. Emphasis on blending light and dark pigments draws attention to the subject, and this method was used for the background in most of Rembrandt Harmensz’s prints and paintings. You can purchase artwork by other popular painters throughout history, by viewing inspiring genre prints for sale online.
