Attrib. to Carlo Caliari (1570-1596), Madonna and Child with the infant John the Baptist and Saints Joseph, Jerome and Francis, oil on canvas

The work here is a smaller version of the San Zaccaria Altarpiece (341,5 x 193 cm) by Veronese the Gallerie dell'Academia in Venice. Carlo Caliari (also known as Carletto) was the youngest and most talented son of Paolo Caliari (better known as the great Veronese). Unfortunately, he did not outlive his father very long, as he died prematurely at 26 in 1596.
