A pair of silver and gilt bronze candelabras, Jac. Desmit fecit a Courtray 1787, H 49,5 cm

Jacques Desmit was appointed master goldsmith in Courtrai in 1782, he died in 1818 (Stuyck 3759-3760).

The candelabras are shaped as caryatids with a cornucopia ending in floral-shaped branches.

The candelabras are signed to the bottom by Jacques Desmit. The medallions on the triangular base bear the Courtrai coat of arms and the emblem of the St George's guild.

The candelabras were probably ordered by the St George's guild.
