An Indonesian Palembang 'Kris' dagger with carved warthog tooth grip, 19thC, L 47 cm

The carved grip in warthog tooth is decorated underneath with semi-precious stones. The blade is finely designed with gilt floral motifs. The dagger rests in a brass sheath with floral decoration and a polished Javanese wooden handle.

Provenance: The collection is reputedly assembled by the current owner's great-grandfather, a military officer active in the late 19thC.

  • Condition: - the wooden mount with chips to the edges and glued in the middle
    - cracks in the ivory
    - dents in the shade
    - general wear
