Linde Ergo, Cherish me, 35 x 23 x 60 cm

" We are each other's mirrors. Two cherries. Two people."
— Linde Ergo

"The woman is central in this image. What she dreams, you can fill in yourself. The eyes are closed. They tell you nothing and yet so much. She radiates a kind of longing and is absorbed in her own dream world.
I didn't choose one cherry but two, as a symbol for both the female and male sensuality.
We all have the desire to be loved, appreciated and cherished. We are the mirrors of each other. Two cherries. Two people. What you see in the other is actually a blueprint of your soul.
Cherish me' is a bronze sculpture. Casting in bronze is a tranquillity and an immortalisation, the ultimate crowning achievement for a sculptor."
— Linde Ergo

Linde Ergo studied sculpture at the Academy of Uccle and obtained her higher degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. In 1992, she moved to New York where she lived and studied for seven years at the Sculpture Center. It was there that the maturity of the act and the mastery of the material came to full bloom. It was in Manhattan that she exhibited for the first time. Now she has been living and working in Belgium again for several years, in De Haan aan Zee.

Her images speak a universal language. They show us human emotions that lie hidden in the deepest parts of us. Her figures inspire and invite silence. For Linde, the living model is an inexhaustible source of inspiration and the impulse to create. With full devotion and an unlikely finesse, she kneads her clay into frail, brittle or passionate figures. Once they have acquired their characteristic delicacy, they are ready to be immortalised in bronze.

Although Lind Ergo's sculptures are innovative and contemporary, they find their basis in classical sculpture. Linde knows how to leave an age-old tradition to the emotional world of today. Her correct sense of postures and contours also determines her direct expression. In doing so, she tells us something about people and it is that simple story that appeals to us and leaves us with a lasting fascination.
