A very imposing French Neoclassical gilt and patinated bronze mantle clock, depicting on top a scene of an engagement between a young couple solemnly sealed by Cupid rewarding two laurel wreaths, the Carrara and noir Belge marble base inlaid with gilt bronze basso-relieve plaques depicting mythological scenes with Venus and an offering to the goddess, the enamelled dial marked 'à Paris', 19thC, H 66,5 - W 60 - D 21 cm

  • Condition: - the item is in our opinion Napoleon III period
    - a pendulum swing and a wind-up key included
    - the enamelled dial lose and with some chips to the wind-up holes
    - several small chips to the top edge of the noir Belge marble
    - the functioning of the item wasn't checked but in an assay to wind the mechanism there was a slight resistance which in our opinion means that the spiral springs are in good condition.
    - furthermore, the clock appears in our opinion in good condition.
