A very exceptional pair of Empire period ormolu candelabras, in the manner of Thomire, H 88 cm

A very exceptional pair of Empire period ormolu candelabras, in the manner of Pierre-Philippe Thomire, the stem branches four candle sockets decorated with fluting, acanthus leaves, and spirals, on which two Niké-figures stand, each solemnly holding another candlestick, the whole topped by a central Apollo figure holding a last torch, early 19thC, H 88 cm

  • Condition: - later set on electricity
    - one of the front plinth decorations missing, a corner ornament missing, another corner ornament loose
    - some wear to the ormolu
    - one top figure lose
    - one of the arms with scrollwork with piece missing (an inlaid Apollo face)
    - furthermore, in our opinion, the pair is in good condition.
