A 17thC European pendant with gilt silver mount, H 5,9 cm; and a ditto 18ct gold brooch, H 4 cm

The pendant with the gilt silver mount is set with a reverse painting, representing the Holy Family in the stable with at the right an admiring angel; the gold one shows an (arch?-)angel in (gold) leaf holding a basket with birds and is set with garnets and rose-cut (diamonds)

  • Condition: Though showing traces of use, both the items, in our opinion show an acceptable condition.
We think that the item with the gilt silver mount, at the reverse, is missing some kind of relic or whatever image. The top decoration of the left and right ornaments was broken and missing.
We think that the gold brooch was originally a pendant that was transformed into a brooch at a later date. Testing the rose-cut diamonds the tester gave no signals at all, which we think, is due to the lead foil placed in the cradles to intensify the diamonds' luster. So, we can't guarantee that the diamonds are genuine.
