A 19thC ivory neoclassical triptych depicting the 'The battle of the Milvian Bridge' by Giulio Romano, H 13,6 - W 19,1 cm / 86 g (+)

Probably of Paris or Dieppe origin. The hinges are in a subtle way masked by neoclassical colonnades. The images themselves and the engravings are heightened with black, red, and gold paint. 'The battle of the Milvian Bridge', by Giulio Romano is a fresco painting located at the Vatican Apostolic Palace.

Provenance: from a private collection in Belgium. This item is included in the commissioned private catalogue, titled 'The Nibajama collection', item no. 194

  • Condition: The bust on top of the centre panel is glued rather clumsily to the panel
    The item is, in our opinion, in good condition, apart from some negligible wear to the black, red, and gold heightening.
