A Chinese gilt-bronze figure of Buddha Sakyamuni seated on a lotus throne, 18thC, H 15,7 cm - Weight about 1515 g

A Chinese gilt-bronze figure of Buddha Sakyamuni, cast seated on a double-lotus throne, dressed in long flowing robes, the face with a serene expression and the forehead inset with a pearl urna, his hair styled in tight curls and topped with the ushnisha and a gilt knob, 18thC, H 15,7 cm - Weight about 1515 g

  • Condition: The back with casting flaws: visible as lines or wavering edges, only at the back of the figure. These wavering edges are seemingly caused by a misrun of metal liquid where a thin skin is created when liquid metal seeps between closed joints of the mould. Possible restorations were not detected.

Furthermore some slight wear here and there, usually of type and age. The figure is cast slightly leaning towards the right side when looking at its back, although not noticeable when looking at the figure from the front. The face appears in our opinion serene.
