A collection of three wooden religious sculptures, 17thC, H 20,5 - 65,5 cm

A probably German 17thC elmwood Saint Jacob of Compostella, with traces of polychrome paint, H 65,5 cm
The Holy Anna and the Holy Virgin as a child, boxwood, 17thC, H 20,5 cm
A female saint with a book (the Holy Anna?), limewood, presented on a wooden base, 17thC, H 22 - 29,5 cm (without - with base)

  • Condition: - apart from the remarks below, in our opinion all three items in acceptable to good condition
    - most probably both smaller sculptures were originally polychrome painted but stripped during the 1960s
    - the boxwood sculpture with some (negligible) bursts, and missing the halo (see the hole at the reverse of the head)
    - the limewood sculpture shows some woodworm holes, in our opinion, the limewood base was surcarved
    - the left hand of Saint Jacob is a restoration
    - the rod of Saint Jacob is missing
    - the pelerine of Saint Jacob with a burst at the front right side
    - the cowl of Saint Jacob with a burst from the bottom edge up to the armpit
    - some minor and totally negligible traces of woodworm
