A fine large Chinese hardwood Ming style square corner display cabinet, Liang'ge gui, Total H - W 125 - D 55 cm

A large Ming style Wanli square corner display cabinet, Liang'ge gui, of qualitative rosewood or hongmu, the open compartment atop the cabinet framed by open-work carved friezes depicting a lappet of archaistic dragons, below, a two-door cabinet, each door divided by an upper panel and a lower panel, both carved in high-relief with birds amongst flower branches, rests on a four-legged base, the inside shelving assembled with various types of wood, late Qing dynasty.

This cabinet is similar to the previous lot.

Cabinets such as these were appropriate for the scholar's studio, where one could display antiques and store books.
