A French polychrome oak sculpture of Saint Martha defeating the Tarasque, early 16thC, H 66 cm

The Saint is figured in a contrapost position on the back of the Tarasque. She is crowned with a diadem in her long, wavy hair spread over her shoulders. The panels of the cloak are held under her forearms, forming extensive folds.

  • Condition: The polychrome decoration is loose at some places and needs fixation.
The tongue of the dragon is missing. Smaller parts missing due to age.
Furthermore in our opinion in good condition.
