Studio Kinryudo (Chinese pinyin: Jinlong Tang (Hall)) is one of the prestigious tetsubin workshops connected with the renowned Ryubundo foundry, pioneers in tetsubin production circa 1764 in Kyoto. Daikoku, affiliated with Studio Kinryudo, was an important Japanese tetsubin master from the Meiji era. He worked under his artist name Mei Weng (Chinese pinyin, meaning 'Old Man of the Plum'). Daikoku was renowned for his refined surface treatments and literary embellishments, often integrating Chinese poetic inscriptions, symbolic flora, and elaborate fittings. His works represent the peak of Meiji and Taisho iron artistry, combining sculpture, calligraphy, and poetry in a single vessel.
