A Japanese Isho Ningyo costume doll, depicting a nobleman, wearing an outer robe in silk brocade, with a rounded head, made seated, of wood core with an application of gofun (animal glue and shell powder), Edo period, H 25,5 - L 29,5 cm

  • Condition: In very fragile and worn condition:
    - the robe with tears to its left arm
    - wear and tear all over the robe
    - missing fingers to the left hand
    - the face, neck and fingers: tears to the gofun and wood core
    - smudges to the uncovered gofun areas
    - missing hair
