A Japanese ivory Meiji period okimono representing a street vendor and his son, H 12,8 cm - 461 g (+)

The father is playing the samisen, the boy is accompanying him on a small taiko drum. At their feet are various instruments and masks. Dark stained engraving all over, signed Eishin.

Provenance: from a private collection in Belgium. This item is included in the commissioned private catalogue, titled 'The Nibajama collection', item no. 41

    - the end of the neck of the instrument missing
    - one of the inlaid hexagonal details in the back of the man's vest is missing
    - some parts that are lightly loose should be reglued
