A Japanese Meiji period ivory monobloc sculpture, W 38,2 - H 11,5 cm - 982 g (+)

Signed Nakagama Kynei Saku, the piece representing a plowing farmer.

One of the most attractive highlights in the Nibajama collection. The artist used the natural form of the tusk in such a way that one gets a nearly tangible and far-reaching impression of heavy labour.

Provenance: from a private collection in Belgium. This item is included in the commissioned private catalogue, titled 'The Nibajama collection', item no. 42

(+) CITES certificate for commercial activities inside the EU, no. 2022/BE04324/CE

  • Condition: Apart from a piece of missing rope between the bridle part of the plow and the body of the bull, the item is in our opinion in fairly good condition.
