A Limoges enamel tazza with cover, depicting Neptune, presumably 16thC, on copper, H 26 cm

A Limoges grisaille enamel and partly gilt tazza with cover, with sceneries from the mythology of Neptune on the well and cover, with flesh tone details, the stem with a coat of arms and a grotesque amongst foliage, presumably 16thC, on copper, H 26 cm

  • Condition: - Loosening of a large part of the enamel layer to the left inner en outside of the well, quite some chips, touch-ups mainly on the top frieze
    - The rim and frieze overall restored
    - The stem and the bowl are joined in a rather clumsy way, the bowl does not stand straight on the stem
    - Large chip to the enamel on the bottom side of the bowl
    - The cover: a large chip on the exterior situated below the winged female sea creature
    - The cover: a chip on the interior, some cracks in the enamel
    - A large crack to the bottom part of the tazza
    - The stem: part of the enamel missing, the motif restored with a replacing paint layer, and a dent in the copper to the bottom rim
