A mid 17thC Flemish Oudenaarde verdure wall tapestry, wool and silk, H 281 - W 307 cm

A typical Flemish verdure, showing woodland with birds and plants in the foreground, the centre offering a wide perspective of the hillside landscape at the horizon.

The well-preserved wide floral decorated border shows double-headed eagles and anthropomorphic figures holding flower baskets and is highlighted by miniature landscapes in the roundels.
