A pair of carved walnut lions, possibly former upper part of a court cupboard, 17thC, H 44 - 44,3 cm

Both are holding a shield carved with oak leaves and acorns. Possibly English.

With a certificate of the antique dealer B. Blondeel - Antwerp d.d. 1979 - declaring them 17thC.

  • Condition: In our opinion, both items are in acceptable to good condition.
The shoulder of the right lion shows a restoration that we think is period and was probably supposed to replace a local irregularity (knot) in the wood. Also, there is a missing piece in that spot.
The usual bursts due to the working of the material.
