A presumably 19thC colonial Burmese walking stick, with a silver and 18ct gold handle, the cane tortoise veneered, L 90,5 cm

The spherical handle of particularly fine worked silver is finished at the bottom with an 18ct worked gold rim and crowned with a ditto relief which is presumably depicting the goddess Kali. The stick, of a five-sided shape, is veneered with tortoiseshell over the entire lenght. Close to the top, two pierced holes with a gold finish, holding a braided silver wire cord ending at two ditto tassels. The stick's end is encased in a silver sleeve, and at the very bottom reinforced and protected with an iron top.

  • Condition: - in our opinion, the item is in a fairly good condition
    - because the wood worked in its natural way, the stick is slightly bent
    - some really minor and negligible damages to the tortoise veneer especially atop the silver sleeve
