A superb Japanese Meiji-period ivory okimono, H 76 cm - total weight 2180 g (+)

Depicting an Onagadori (Japanese rooster) on a tree trunk. The rooster is made up of several ingeniously put-together parts. Remark that the longer carved tail-sides are in a very refined way made of two individual pieces of ivory. The trunk is made of stained light softwood.
