An Antwerp tortoiseshell cabinet-on-stand, 17thC and later, H 167 - W 125 - D 43 cm

Tortoiseshell, ebony, rosewood, and gilt brass mounts. The central doors are decorated with brass caryatides and enclose a fitted arcaded interior with mirrors, gilt columns and architectural details, and a bone and rosewood inlaid floor. The cabinet is footed on an ebonised stand with Solomonic legs.

  • Condition: - In our opinion, a strongly restored and probably assembled piece. The piece in its whole can not be considered as being completely 17thC.
    - quite some loose and missing pieces of veneer
    - wear all over, needs check-up
