An exceptional Flemish wall tapestry, depicting wild boar hunting scenes, 16thC

A Flemish wall tapestry, depicting wild boar hunting scenes, the border richly decorated with various scenes and allegorical figures amongst flower vases, the figural motifs in the border are related to the workshop of Jacob Geubels I, wool and silk, late 16thC, H 350 x W 385 cm

  • Condition: The borders of this tapestry, mainly the top right figure of Juno and the flower vases to both the left and the right side border, are very similar to the tapestry 'Ceasar landing in Egypt and receiving the head of Pompey' of the series of 'The history of Pompey', marked by Jacob Geubels I, Inv. n°T3788, Bavarian National Museum, Munich
In our opinion in acceptable condition; with the following remarks: overall areas of restoration and reweaving.
Several renewed areas with parts of other tapestries, mainly to the border. Stains to the middle bottom part of the centre panel.
Could benefit from a check-up and cleaning.
