An exceptional gilt brass presentation tray, on four lion feet, 16thC, South Germany or Meuse valley, 27 x 27 cm

This tray was probably the foot of a shrine or pyx (a vessel in which the eucharistic host is kept).

Probably of South German or Meuse valley craftsmanship, early 16thC.

Provenance: important private collection.

  • Condition: - general wear to the gilt and patina, but overall a very beautiful patina
    - furthermore, the tray appears in good condition.
