An Indo-Portuguese ivory Corpus Christi, Ceylon, 17thC, H 21,5 cm - 283g (+)

With the stylised loincloth and stomach folds, as well as the pose and hair, typical for the region and period. Traces of polychrome paint on his finely sculpted hair.
Age cracks and beautiful honeyed patina all over the ivory. Suspended from a metal base.
