17thC Venetian School, in the tradition of Titian.

The work depicts one of Jupiter's many escapades. In Ovid's Metamorphoses, we are told how the father of the gods disguises himself as a satyr and impregnates the nymph Antiope with twins.
57 x 71 cm. (22.4 x 27.9 in.), Frame: 76 x 88 cm. (29.9 x 34.6 in.)

  • Condition: - relined and restored
    - overpaint all over the work
    - the skin tones of Antiope with quite some touches
    - furthermore in acceptable condition.
