The Holy Virgin is holding an apple in her hand. The apple symbolises the Fall of Man and Christ's role as the new Adam.
28 x 21 cm. (11.01 x 8.26 in.), Frame: 44 x 37 cm. (17.32 x 14.57 in.)

  • Condition: - Small nicks to the lower corners. Oil on walnut panel,
    - the panel is uncradled (originally cradled, see photograph).
    - Gold ground, rectangularly crackled.
    - Several restorations, fixation of the pigment layer on the old cracks (near the lower edges towards the hand of the Virgin, the face of the Virgin ).
    - Removal of the old varnish layer and some cleaning.
    - furthermore, in our opinion, the work appears in acceptable to good condition
