Mediterranean Selection

2003 – Trevallon, Red (0,75 L.)
Alpilles IGP, France

The earliest harvest since the Trevallon was created. Also the hottest and smallest since 1983
Trévallon is known for its long aging process, more than 2 years for its reds. This vintage has powerful tannins from this sunny year and have taken more time to soften. Assemblage is 50/50 Syrah and Cabernet sauvignon.

1995 – Trevallon, Red (0,75 L.)
Alpilles IGP, France

1995, An ideal summer tainted by a disastrous month of September made for a vintage of very good quality.

This has a mature colour and an Autumnal nose. Fairly hot and roasted and blind I would have guessed it as Chateauneuf du Pape. Leathery and earthy, rustic like the 1997 but cleaner and with more depth.

2015 – Gerard Bertrand, Clos d'Ora, Red (0,75 L.)
Minervois La Liviniere, France

The Gérard Bertrand group is the spearhead of a viticulture committed to a better future led by its founder, the eponymous winegrower. With the Languedoc's benchmark biodynamic wines, they create great wines that reflect all the nuances of their terroir. Recognized for his great talent as a blender as well as for his audacity and creativity, he and his teams are working to make the wines of southern France shine throughout the world.
The nose presents aromas of pepper, chocolate, mint, sandalwood. The attack is enchanting and the mouth fascinates with its aromas of juniper berries and black fruits, all sublimated by melted and subtle tannins. The vines are grown using biodynamic methods and are worked entirely by mule and horse. Syrah: vatting and vinification with destemmed grapes. Grenache and Mourvèdre: destemming and light crushing during ripening. Carignan: whole bunch vatting, vinification at fairly high temperatures to promote aromatic extraction.
