Two Japanese woodblock prints by Kitagawa Utamaro, framed 47,5 x 35 cm / 43 x 33 cm

An ukiyo-e print from the series 'comparing two feelings "sources of love" '(jitsu karube iro no minakami), oban format, set in a plexiglass stand and one of two courtesans performing a hobby horse dance, both oban tate-e, probably ca. 1798-1799.

  • Condition: In our opinion, both are early impressions (ref. https://www.osakaprints.com/content/information/varia/condition-criteria.htm)
    The first print (two lovers):
    - discolouration all over, visible on the edges
    - the edges fairly damaged, with some missing pieces
    - a tear on the left ladies' collar
    - in our opinion, overall in fair condition
The second print (two courtesans with horses)
    - many creases all over
    - discolouration all over
    - in our opinion, overall in a rather poor condition
