Virgin and Child with Saint Anna, oak, 16thC, H 52 - W 38 cm

A magnificent group of statues in oak from a 16thC house (or church) altar, H 52 - W 38 cm
Flemish School, probably Mechelen or Antwerp, 1560-1580, influenced by the Italian Renaissance manneristic style

  • Condition: Leached and therefore traces of caustic soda, no traces of polychrome paint.
The lower part of the left arm of Saint Anna is lacking, as well as both hands of the Child.
Detailed backside, esp. the chairs (rare). Rich and elegant folds in the clothing of both ladies.
The facial expression of the figures is very vivid.
In our opinion in very good condition.
