An imposing Sèvres biscuit mantle clock set, signed Barthélemy, Paris, H 60 - 75 cm

Double-interlaced Sèvres mark with date letter 'F' to the back of the bust, the enamelled dial signed 'Barthélemy, Paris', the inside mechanism marked 'Mougin'.

The central clock is topped with the bust of Marie-Antoinette, accompanied by two angels and two doves. The central piece is flanked by two three-armed candelabras, each decorated with a standing putto. Each piece has a gilt bronze frieze to the base depicting playful putti.

  • Condition: - the central piece: leg of the left angel restored, left dove with a missing top of a wing
    - the left candelabra: the trunk against which the putto is leaning is restored, glued crack to the standing foot
    - the right candelabra: ok
    - the mechanism: pendulum swing and wind-up key included, - the functioning of the item wasn't checked but in an assay to wind the mechanism there was a slight resistance which in our opinion means that the spiral springs are in good condition.
