Signed in the cartouche at the lower left, in the margin: 'Sic Petri Brugelij/ archetypu[m] Philipp./Gall[a]eus imitabatur' (Thus Philips Galle reproduced the prototype by Pieter Bruegell); in the cartouche at the lower right, in the margin: 'Abrah. Ortelius,/ sibi & amicis,/ fieri curabat' (On behalf of himself and his friends Abraham Ortelius took care of the production).

Antwerp, after 1574. Undated, so the second of two states (the first state is 1574).

  • Condition: - foxing spots all over the paper
    - trimmed along the margins with the platemarks cut off
    - laid down on a paper support, mounted on a cardboard
    - all four corners with restored tears and filled missing parts of paper
    - several small tears all over the four edges (mostly the bottom edge)
    - restored damage situated to the right leg of the table
    - central vertical crease
